Cambridge Primary Mathematics Learner's Book 4 & Workbook 4 - Unit 1 Numbers to 10,000
Exercises 1.1 to 1.3 Combined Practice | Counting, Negative Numbers & Place Value | 40 Original Questions
What You Learned in Ex 1.1 to 1.3?
Completed Exercises 1.1 to 1.3 from Cambridge Primary Mathematics Learner's Book 4 (Second Edition by Mary Wood & Emma Low, Pages 12-24) & Workbook 4 (Pages 9-23)? Now test yourself.
In Exercise 1.1 Counting and sequences (Learner's Book 12-15) you learned term-to-term rule. This means you add or subtract the same number each time to get next term. Example: If rule is add 3, then sequence is 401, 404, 407, 410.
In Exercise 1.2 More on negative numbers (Learner's Book 16-19) you learned about temperatures below zero using number line and thermometer. For example, -1°C is warmer than -4°C because -1 is closer to zero. If Iceland is -1°C and Mongolia is 31°C colder, then Mongolia is -32°C.
In Exercise 1.3 Understanding place value (Learner's Book 20-24) you learned value of each digit up to hundreds of thousands. For example, in 805,469 the 8 is 800,000, 0 is 0 ten-thousands, 5 is 5,000, 4 is 400, 6 is 60, 9 is 9.

FAQs - Cambridge Grade 4 Ex 1.1 to 1.3
1. What is term-to-term rule in counting and sequences Grade 4 Cambridge?
Term-to-term rule tells how to get next number. You add or subtract same number each time. For example add 3 each time gives 401, 404, 407. Check all gaps must be same.
2. How to solve negative numbers temperature problems Grade 4?
Use number line. If Iceland is -2°C and Mongolia is 28°C colder, subtract 28 from -2. -2 -28 = -30°C. Colder means go left, warmer means go right on thermometer.
3. How to write large numbers in words and digits for place value Grade 4?
Break number by thousands. Example 425,362 = Four hundred and twenty-five thousand, three hundred and sixty-two. 108,090 = One hundred and eight thousand and ninety.
4. What does 100 times larger mean in place value worksheet?
Multiplying by 100 moves digits two places left in place value table. 465 ×100 = 46,500. 555 ×100 = 55,500. You add two zeros as placeholder for tens and ones.
5. How to complete number sentences ÷10, ×10, ×100, ÷100 for Grade 4?
÷10 moves one place right, ×10 one place left, ×100 two places left, ÷100 two places right. Example 630÷10=63, 208×10=2080, 70×100=7000, 4500÷100=45.
